Senior Software Engineer II

About the role

Thought Machine is looking for a Senior Software Engineer II to own complex, ambiguous technical challenges and drive systemic change across our cloud‑native banking platforms. You will work independently on end‑to‑end solutions while influencing the long‑term technical direction of the company.

Key responsibilities

• Design and build solutions to highly complex problems, leveraging deep knowledge of the codebase and architecture.
• Define and enforce architecture standards that meet security, performance, reliability, maintainability and scalability requirements.
• Shape technical direction by introducing industry‑leading trends, tools and processes.
• Promote code quality through peer reviews and mentorship.
• Act as a bridge between senior leadership, external stakeholders and engineering teams.

Required profile

• Senior‑level software engineer with proven ability to handle ambiguous, high‑impact technical challenges.
• Strong technical leadership and communication skills.
• Experience influencing architectural decisions and driving organisational change.
