Senior Software Engineer

About the role

As Senior Software Engineer you will be a hands‑on, full‑stack contributor on our core platform, working closely with our Lead Engineer and an external development team that uses AI tools to move quickly without sacrificing quality. Your focus is shipping features at pace while maintaining a high bar on quality through thorough testing and code review.

Key responsibilities

• Build and ship features across our learner and content platforms (React, Node.js, NestJS) from specification to production.
• Use AI tools such as Cursor and Claude to accelerate work while owning validation for code quality, security and performance.
• Uphold engineering practices by contributing to code reviews and writing automated tests to avoid technical debt.
• Pair with the Lead Engineer and other team members, share knowledge and help less‑experienced colleagues unblock.
• Participate in design and architecture discussions, flag trade‑offs and suggest pragmatic solutions.

Required profile

• Three or more years as a full‑stack engineer, including senior‑level experience.
• Strong TypeScript expertise across a pnpm/Turborepo monorepo, React 19 with TanStack, Tailwind CSS, Prisma, PostgreSQL (Supabase), Better‑Auth and Stripe.
• Comfort with AI‑assisted development and practical experience using tools like Cursor or Claude.
• Proven track record of shipping high‑quality code quickly while balancing velocity and standards.
• Pragmatic, ownership‑driven attitude with clear communication skills.

What we offer

• Salary £55,000‑£65,000 per year, depending on experience.
• Permanent, full‑time hybrid role (two days a week in our Clerkenwell office).
• 28 days’ holiday, 5% employer pension contribution and eligibility for a group bonus scheme.
