Senior/Principal Environmental Consultant

About the role

Penguin Recruitment is seeking a Senior/Principal Environmental Consultant to join a leading multi‑disciplinary consultancy’s UK Environment Practice in Manchester. The role offers the chance to lead environmental work on major infrastructure projects, influencing design and delivery to achieve sustainable outcomes.

Key responsibilities

• Lead coordination and delivery of environmental studies, including Environmental Impact Assessments, options appraisals and management plans.
• Line‑manage and mentor a team of environmental professionals, ensuring high standards of performance.
• Produce clear, well‑structured reports by collating data from multiple sources.
• Deliver projects on time and within budget while reviewing and assuring the work of others.
• Develop and maintain client relationships and support business development and bid preparation.
• Promote continual professional development in line with institute requirements.

Required profile

• Degree or Masters in environmental or related science.
• Significant consultancy experience on major infrastructure projects (Chartered status desirable).
• Proven knowledge of the EIA process and related technical expertise.
• Leadership experience within multidisciplinary teams.
• Excellent report writing, verbal and presentation skills.
