Shift Electrical Engineer – £35k + Shift Allowance

About the role

We are seeking a Shift Electrical Engineer to join a leading facilities management organisation in Birmingham. The role involves responding to night‑shift reactive jobs, diagnosing faults and repairing complex mechanical and electrical systems to ensure uninterrupted service.

Key responsibilities

• Respond to BMS alerts and telephone calls during the night shift, acting as the first point of contact.
• Diagnose, fault‑find and repair complex mechanical and electrical systems in line with standards and legislation.
• Allocate tasks to appropriate team members and complete all required documentation.
• Hand over records to the Helpdesk at the start of each shift to maintain service continuity.
• Obtain and maintain Competent Person status for low‑voltage, access control, alarm and medical gas systems.
• Perform authorised person duties after appropriate training.
• Maintain emergency lighting, nurse‑call, general electrics and fire‑alarm systems.

Required profile

• City & Guilds Level 2 and Level 3 qualifications (or equivalent).
• AM2 and 18 Edition certifications.
• Experience working in a maintenance environment, preferably within a healthcare setting.
