Shift Engineer – Electrical Bias (Progressive Maintenance)

About the role

As a Shift Engineer, you'll play a vital role in keeping our production lines running safely, efficiently and reliably. Working closely with Operations and Engineering teams, you'll use your technical expertise to reduce downtime, improve equipment performance and drive Continuous Improvement across your designated area.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver world‑class maintenance by ensuring planned maintenance activities are completed effectively, defects are identified and resolved, and equipment remains reliable.
• Drive Continuous Improvement using lean manufacturing tools, root cause analysis and loss‑elimination techniques to reduce downtime, improve efficiency and eliminate waste.
• Support operational performance by owning IWS performance within your area, contributing to Daily Direction Setting meetings and driving actions that improve site performance.
• Develop engineering capability by coaching and training Equipment Owners in IWS engineering principles and maintenance activities.
• Provide technical expertise as a Subject Matter Expert for Progressive Maintenance and IWS tools, embedding best practice across the site.

Required profile

• Recognised engineering qualifications (NVQ Level 3 in Engineering with an 18th Edition qualification) and experience as a multi‑skilled engineer.
• Strong mechanical and electrical expertise with proven ability to diagnose faults and maintain a wide range of production equipment.
• Continuous Improvement experience using root cause analysis, problem‑solving methodologies and improvement tools.
• Coaching and communication skills to share knowledge, develop colleagues and build strong relationships across Engineering and Operations.
• Proactive, positive mindset with a can‑do attitude, openness to change and genuine passion for Continuous Improvement and team success.
