Site Supervisor - Rail

About the role

Our client is seeking a safety‑driven Site Supervisor to manage the day‑to‑day operations of a £6 million roof refurbishment at Birmingham New Street Station. Working directly over a live rail interchange, you will lead specialist steelwork and cladding teams, ensuring the project is delivered safely, on time and to the required quality standards.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise the roof work programme, coordinating steelwork and fabric cladding subcontractors.
• Plan and control daily logistics, including material movements, high‑level lifting and restricted access points.
• Conduct shift briefings, toolbox talks and handover meetings for day, night and weekend crews.
• Enforce health and safety policies, ensuring compliance with approved Method Statements (RAMS) and Network Rail boundaries.
• Manage permits to work, hot‑works, working‑at‑height and equipment safety compliance.
• Maintain accurate daily site diaries covering labour, plant utilisation, weather and delays.
• Collaborate with Site and Section Engineers to schedule structural inspections and quality checks without impacting production.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a Site Supervisor, Construction Supervisor or Foreman for a Tier 1 or Tier 2 contractor.
• Background in rail station projects and structural refurbishment.
• Valid SSSTS or SMSTS certification and a CSCS Gold Supervisor card.
• Strong ability to manage subcontractors while upholding high safety standards.
