Social Work Assistant

About the role

The Social Work Assistant will support social workers in safeguarding and promoting the welfare of vulnerable children and young people in Birmingham. Working under the direction of a Team Manager or Social Worker, you will provide practical day‑to‑day assistance to children and families.

Key responsibilities

• Support social workers in delivering high‑quality services to vulnerable children and young people.
• Manage an allocated casework role as assigned by the Team Manager/Social Worker.
• Collect, accurately record, and critically analyse information using management information systems.
• Ensure statutory responsibilities are met to promote and safeguard the well‑being of children and young people.
• Conduct assessments that comply with statutory requirements, prioritising safety and well‑being.
• Provide practical, day‑to‑day support to children and their families as directed.

Required profile

• Ability to work under the direction of a Team Manager or Social Worker.
• Capability to handle casework and record information accurately.
• Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.

Required skills

• Proficiency with management information systems for data collection and analysis.
