Socio-Economics Consultant

About the role

WSP is seeking a Socio‑Economics Consultant to join its Socio‑economics, Population and Human Health team within the Environmental Management and Assessment division in the UK. The role will support a diverse portfolio of projects across energy, renewables, infrastructure, residential, commercial, education and health sectors.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct socio‑economic assessments, including data assembly, desk‑based studies and economic modelling.
• Prepare and edit socio‑economics chapters for Environmental Statements and other consent documents.
• Support bidding, design/optioneering, technical analysis, mitigation planning and approvals.
• Apply statutory procedures such as Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) and Development Consent Orders (DCO).
• Provide guidance to junior team members and oversee project management, delivery and financial aspects.

Required profile

• Pro‑active, initiative‑driven professional with experience in socio‑economic assessment for infrastructure and mixed‑use projects.
• Familiarity with sectors such as energy, renewables, transport, residential/commercial development, education and health.
• Strong understanding of statutory consenting processes and health‑related impact assessments.
