Software Developer – Remote First (Birmingham)

About the role

We are looking for a Software Developer to join our growing Technology team. Reporting to the Head of Software Development, you will design, build and maintain high‑quality software that powers our e‑commerce platforms and internal systems.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain high‑quality software applications.
• Build new functionality for customer‑facing websites and internal business systems.
• Write clean, maintainable and well‑tested code.
• Troubleshoot, debug and resolve software issues.
• Participate in code reviews and promote best practices.
• Collaborate with frontend teams, QA and business stakeholders to deliver new features.
• Optimise application performance, scalability and reliability.
• Support software deployments and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Contribute to technical documentation and knowledge sharing.

Required profile

• Commercial experience as a Software Developer or Software Engineer.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
• Excellent attention to detail.
• Ability to work effectively in a remote‑first environment.

Required skills

• Python (or comparable language).
• Django (or comparable web framework).
• SQL database experience.
• Git version control.
• Understanding of software architecture and object‑oriented programming principles.
• Experience integrating third‑party APIs.
