Software Engineer – Infrastructure

About the role

Thought Machine is building modern banking technology in the cloud. As a Software Engineer focused on Infrastructure, you will help design, automate and maintain the platforms that power our core and payments solutions for banks worldwide.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain production‑ready infrastructure tooling using Python or Golang.
• Build automation to streamline deployment, scaling and reliability of services.
• Create observability and orchestration tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana) for customers to monitor deployments.
• Contribute to disaster‑recovery, backup and redundancy strategies.
• Collaborate with engineering and SRE teams to improve code quality through new tools and processes.

Required profile

• Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related technical field.
• 3‑5 years of hands‑on experience building infrastructure tooling.
• Proven ability to work on reliable, scalable applications in a cloud environment.

Required skills

• Python or Golang programming.
• Experience with observability tools such as Prometheus, OpenTelemetry, Grafana.
• Knowledge of databases like PostgreSQL or DuckDB.
• Familiarity with event streaming platforms (e.g., Kafka).
• Container orchestration experience (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Working knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines.
