Software Engineer – Python/Django – Birmingham – Hybrid

About the role

We are seeking a mid‑level Software Engineer with strong Python and Django experience to join our delivery team in Birmingham. You will contribute to critical digital systems that help the UK achieve Net Zero by 2050, working on workflow automation, forecasting engines, analytics dashboards and more.

Key responsibilities

• Write, test and maintain high‑quality, secure, and reliable Python/Django code.
• Participate in feature‑level design discussions and propose scalable solutions.
• Conduct peer code reviews and apply coding standards, design patterns, and best practices.
• Deliver tasks from design through development, testing and deployment, providing accurate estimates and early risk visibility.
• Troubleshoot issues across development, integration and production environments.
• Collaborate closely with Product, QA, DevOps, UI/UX, Principal Engineers and Architects.
• Mentor junior team members, pair‑program with seniors and actively seek feedback.

Required profile

• Mid‑level experience building Python/Django applications.
• Proven ability to work autonomously while collaborating effectively in a cross‑functional team.
• Strong problem‑solving skills and a commitment to delivering high‑quality software.
• Willingness to engage in technical discussions, raise risks early and contribute to continuous improvement.
