Spacecraft Operations Engineer

About the role

ClearSpace is seeking a Spacecraft Operations Engineer to contribute to the end‑to‑end design, development, and execution of mission operations for current and future missions.

Key responsibilities

• Contribute to mission operations design aligned with spacecraft development schedules and system architectures.
• Provide operations expertise during design reviews and bid proposals.
• Author Operations Concepts, Spacecraft User Manuals, flight rules, and constraints.
• Develop and maintain automated and manual flight procedures for nominal and contingency scenarios.
• Design, develop, and maintain software tools, automation scripts, and databases for mission planning and telemetry analysis.
• Formulate and execute verification and validation plans using simulators and testbeds.
• Participate in operational rehearsals, anomaly simulations, and team training.
• Perform real‑time spacecraft commanding, monitoring, and anomaly resolution as a flight controller on rotating shifts.
• Orchestrate short‑ and long‑term operations planning, including orbital pass scheduling and command generation.
• Conduct health and performance trend analysis and contribute to anomaly investigations.

Required profile

• University degree in a relevant engineering discipline.
• Demonstrable satellite industry experience, preferably across the full life cycle of a Low Earth Orbit (LEO) mission.
• Comprehensive knowledge of satellite subsystems, especially AOCS/GNC or OBDH.
• Experience operating satellite ground systems, including procedure development, monitoring, control, mission planning, on‑board software management, configuration management, and simulators.
• Ability to remain calm and disciplined in high‑stress situations.
• Strong problem‑identification, root‑cause analysis, and timely solution implementation skills.
• Detail‑oriented, capable of working independently with limited supervision and collaboratively with team members.
