Staff Product Engineer (Connect)

About the role

Gigs builds the operating system for mobile services, letting tech companies embed global connectivity into their products. Connect is its customer-facing layer, where end users buy, activate and manage mobile plans, either through a white-labeled experience or embeddable flows. This Staff Product Engineer owns the architecture and technical vision of Connect (React, Next.js, TypeScript) and leads projects from a fuzzy problem to a shipped product.

Key responsibilities

• Own the architecture and technical vision of Connect, a hosted checkout for mobile plans
• Lead projects from problem to shipped product, working with customers and design
• Raise front-end operational excellence: performance budgets, error boundaries, observability and graceful degradation when carriers are slow or down
• Bridge front end and backend: shape API contracts and push back on designs that hurt UX, knowing enough Ruby or Go to trace bugs end to end
• Identify where AI changes the work and push those changes forward
• Mentor senior engineers and help define the senior IC growth path
• Ship production code and shape technical strategy with engineering leadership

Required profile

• 7+ years building and operating production React applications at scale, with deep TypeScript, Node and Next.js experience
• Strong opinions on state management, rendering performance and design systems, backed by experience of systems that did not scale
• Comfort working across the stack: reading and modifying Ruby or Go services and understanding the API consumed
• Front-end operational instincts: error tracking, performance monitoring and failure states as first-class concerns
• Experience with agentic AI development beyond code completion
• Track record of driving technical outcomes across teams without direct authority

Nice to have

• Telecom, payments or multi-market API platform experience
• Familiarity with the stack (React, TypeScript, Next.js, Node, Tailwind, Ruby, Go)
• Scaling-phase experience (50 to 200 engineers)
• Design systems, component libraries or platform boundary work at scale

What we offer

• Base salary of EUR 130,000 to 165,000 plus equity
