Strategic Projects Finance Manager

About the role

Morgan McKinley is seeking a Strategic Projects Finance Manager to join a large, forward‑thinking organisation. The role sits within a high‑performing FP&A function and will support major strategic initiatives, transformation programmes and investment projects that drive business performance and long‑term growth.

Key responsibilities

• Support financial planning, forecasting and budgeting for strategic projects and investment programmes.
• Develop and maintain detailed financial models for business cases, investment appraisals and strategic decision‑making.
• Analyse project costs, financial performance, benefits realisation and associated risks.
• Produce management reporting, dashboards and performance commentary for senior stakeholders.
• Partner with project managers, operational leaders and executives to ensure robust financial assumptions.
• Provide financial support on tenders, commercial opportunities and service transformation initiatives.
• Monitor project governance, funding utilisation and post‑implementation reviews.
• Collaborate with Finance, Commercial and Operational teams to ensure accurate reporting and project accounting.
• Drive improvements to financial planning processes, reporting tools and systems.

Required profile

• Fully qualified ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent.
• Proven experience in FP&A, commercial finance or strategic finance within a complex organisation.
• Strong financial modelling skills and experience developing business cases.
• Experience of budgeting, forecasting, reporting and variance analysis.
• Exposure to strategic projects, transformation programmes or large‑scale change initiatives.
• Advanced Excel proficiency.
