Subsidence Engineer – Technical Surveyor

About the role

We are looking for a technically strong Surveyor/Engineer specialising in subsidence to provide expert input on property‑related claims. The role involves site inspections, technical assessments and the production of clear, structured reports that support liability, causation and settlement decisions.

Key responsibilities

• Handle subsidence claims and deliver technical support to adjusters.
• Conduct site investigations, develop case management plans and assess causation.
• Produce detailed technical reports covering policy analysis, liability, quantum and recommended actions.
• Instruct and oversee specialists such as engineers, drainage experts or arborists.
• Communicate with all parties, prepare interim updates and approve interim payments.
• Agree settlements and contribute specialist input to final reports.
• Recommend and review repair solutions including underpinning, drainage works, vegetation management and mitigation schemes.
• Provide expert advice on causation disputes, litigation support, recoveries and repudiation decisions.

Required profile

• Chartered (or working towards chartership) Civil or Structural Engineer.
• Relevant experience in civil/structural engineering, subsidence investigation or technical claims environments.
• Strong analytical capability and sound decision‑making skills.
• Highly organised with strong attention to detail and ability to manage a varied caseload.
• Willingness to travel regularly across the UK.
