Support and Outreach Worker – Birmingham & West Midlands

About the role
The Big Issue is seeking two Support and Outreach Workers to help our vendors across Birmingham and the West Midlands. You will combine frontline support for vulnerable adults with practical sales guidance, aiming to increase vendors' income and move people out of poverty.
Key responsibilities
- Provide case‑work support and advice to vendors, helping them overcome personal and financial barriers.
- Deliver practical sales coaching to improve magazine sales and vendor earnings.
- Promote The Big Issue in the local community and build partnerships with third‑party organisations.
- Identify and communicate new opportunities that can assist vendors in achieving financial stability.
- Travel across Birmingham, Oxford and the wider West Midlands region using a company van.
- Maintain accurate records of vendor interactions and outcomes.
Required profile
- Experience working with vulnerable adults in a frontline setting.
- Strong communication skills and a genuine commitment to poverty reduction.
- Ability to work independently while representing the organisation positively.
- Over 21 years of age, with a full UK driving licence.
Required skills
- Full, clean driving licence (company van use).
- Access to a personal vehicle is advantageous but not mandatory.
