System Support AVP – London (6‑month contract)

About the role

This 6‑month contract (potentially extendable to 2 years) with a leading global investment bank involves providing hands‑on system support for critical internal applications. You will work within a core engineering team, ensuring production stability, performance, and rapid issue resolution across multiple locations.

Key responsibilities

• Troubleshoot and resolve production issues on Windows Server, SQL Server and Oracle environments.
• Perform root‑cause analysis and implement fixes via code changes, SQL scripting or configuration updates.
• Liaise with infrastructure, network, DBA and help‑desk teams as well as external stakeholders.
• Communicate status and updates clearly to business users and support teams.
• Support application releases and ensure smooth deployment into production.
• Participate in out‑of‑hours support rota and maintain accurate documentation, ticketing and incident reporting.
• Assist with disaster‑recovery environments and non‑production systems.

Required profile

• Strong experience in application/system support within enterprise environments.
• Hands‑on knowledge of SQL (T‑SQL or PL/SQL) and Windows Server administration.
• Proven ability to troubleshoot complex production issues.
• Excellent communication skills for both technical and non‑technical audiences.
• Experience in banking or other regulated sectors is highly desirable.
