About the role
A Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) in Southwark is seeking a Teaching Assistant for SEN to support a classroom teacher across a range of subjects, working with secondary‑aged pupils who display extremely challenging behaviour. The role is full‑time and will run until at least July 2027, offering an opportunity to make a positive impact on vulnerable learners.
Key responsibilities
- Assist the classroom teacher in delivering a variety of subject lessons to secondary pupils.
- Manage and support pupils with highly challenging behaviour, drawing on effective behaviour‑management techniques.
- Build and maintain positive relationships with pupils to foster a supportive learning environment.
Required profile
- Previous experience working in a Pupil Referral Unit or a similarly intensive educational setting.
- Demonstrated ability to remain calm and handle pressure while managing challenging behaviour.
- Strong dedication to the role and commitment to start as soon as possible, remaining in post until at least July 2027.
- Ability to develop constructive relationships with pupils and staff.
