Teaching Assistant – Ideal for Graduates

About the role

Reed Education is seeking enthusiastic individuals to join a primary‑age specialist provision in Plymouth as full‑time Teaching Assistants starting in September. No prior school experience is required – comprehensive training and on‑the‑job support will be provided. This role offers a rewarding entry point into education and the possibility of a permanent position for the right candidate.

Key responsibilities

• Support children aged 4–11 with additional learning needs, developmental delays, or SEMH challenges.
• Provide 1:1 and small‑group assistance to develop literacy, numeracy and communication skills.
• Help pupils regulate emotions, build confidence and engage with learning activities.
• Assist with social development, routine building and fostering independence.
• Collaborate closely with teachers and support staff to create a safe, nurturing learning environment.

Required profile

• Recent graduate from any subject area or career changer.
• Background in customer service, retail, hospitality, care, sports coaching, youth work, or administration is welcomed.
• Kind, patient, and motivated to help children succeed.
• Reliable work ethic and willingness to follow direction.

• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Empathy, patience and a caring approach.
• Positive, upbeat attitude and confidence interacting with children.
