Teaching Assistant – SEND Support (EYFS to Year 2)

About the role

Reeson Education is seeking a caring and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to support a small SEND class in a primary school in Manchester. The role is full‑time, long‑term maternity cover, running for the full academic year and will involve working with children from EYFS to Year 2, many of whom have autism and are non‑verbal.

Key responsibilities

• Provide one‑to‑one and small‑group support for pupils with ASD and complex communication needs.
• Use visual supports, structured routines and communication strategies to facilitate learning.
• Assist pupils with emotional regulation, social interaction and independence.
• Collaborate closely with the class teacher, SENDCo and multidisciplinary team.
• Help maintain a calm, nurturing and safe classroom environment.

Required profile

• Previous experience supporting EYFS children, especially within a SEND setting.
• Strong background working with pupils on the autism spectrum, including non‑verbal learners.
• Patient, calm and nurturing approach.
• Ability to build strong relationships with pupils, colleagues and families.
• Passion for helping children with additional needs reach their potential.
