Teaching Assistant – Southampton

About the role

Prospero Teaching is seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant to support pupils in schools across Southampton. This full‑time, term‑time position offers the chance to help young people develop confidence, achieve their potential, and engage positively with learning.

Key responsibilities

• Support teaching and learning within the classroom
• Provide 1:1 support and assist with small‑group interventions
• Help pupils stay engaged, focused, and motivated during lessons
• Assist with classroom activities, resources, and lesson preparation
• Encourage positive behaviour and learning routines
• Build positive relationships with pupils and staff
• Support pupils' confidence, participation, and progress
• Promote a positive and inclusive learning environment
• Follow safeguarding and school policies consistently

Required profile

• Experience working with children or young people
• Patient, supportive, and approachable manner
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Able to build positive relationships with pupils and staff
• Adaptable and responsive to varying needs
• Reliable and able to work effectively as part of a team
• Backgrounds in childcare, coaching, youth work, or education welcomed
• Graduates seeking school‑based experience encouraged to apply
