Ultrasound Engineer

About the role

We are looking for an enthusiastic Ultrasound Engineer to join the engineering team at The Christie. You will provide service, maintenance and repair of ultrasound equipment across The Christie and multiple NHS trusts in North West England.

Key responsibilities

• Perform planned preventative maintenance, repairs and inspection testing on ultrasound systems at various hospitals.
• Investigate complex faults, advise clinical staff and liaise with manufacturers to resolve issues.
• Support training of junior staff and identify technical training needs.
• Work closely with clinical scientists, the engineering team and the ultrasound coordinator to deliver SLA contracts.
• Conduct site audits to keep contact and system details up‑to‑date.

Required profile

• Motivated engineer with a degree in electronics/electrical engineering or equivalent experience.
• Registered with a professional body that offers a CPD scheme (preferred).
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team within a quality management system.
• Strong organisational skills to manage own workload and travel schedule.

Required skills

• Advanced practical knowledge of medical ultrasound equipment.
• Experience servicing and repairing complex medical devices.
• Fault diagnosis and resolution for ultrasound systems.
• Familiarity with quality management systems and SLA delivery.
