Vehicle Systems Engineer – £60,000

About the role

This position sits at the core of our client’s vehicle compatibility programme, responsible for acquiring, researching and reverse‑engineering the latest electric and commercial vehicles. The role is remote, with occasional travel to OEM sites and fleet locations, ideally based near Birmingham.

Key responsibilities

• Source and acquire target vehicles according to the integration roadmap.
• Access vehicle data via OBDII, proprietary connectors, inductive sensors and direct loom connections.
• Capture, log and structure raw vehicle data for analysis and simulation.
• Decode signals to derive parameters such as speed, battery state, torque and fault codes.
• Document integrations for field engineers and self‑installers.
• Automate integration processes and maintain vehicle data simulators.
• Drive a high cadence of vehicle integrations, ensuring timely production release.
• Maintain relationships with OEMs and bodybuilders to obtain technical documentation.
• Collaborate with Embedded & Vehicle Systems teams to translate findings into firmware and application updates.

Required profile

• Methodical and proactive approach to building and maintaining a vehicle integration pipeline.
• Strong stakeholder management skills with OEMs, builders and fleet operators.
• Ability to travel to supplier sites and customer fleets as needed.
