Waste Team Leader

About the role

As Waste Team Leader you will supervise the waste team and coordinate all waste operations across the site. You will be responsible for the safe disposal and removal of hazardous, non‑hazardous and specialist waste, acting as the Subject Matter Expert for waste management.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, coordinate and facilitate daily routine and non‑routine waste operations, ensuring safe and efficient service delivery.
• Ensure waste is handled, segregated, stored, packaged, labelled, moved and disposed of in line with site procedures and regulatory requirements.
• Maintain high standards of housekeeping and organisation in waste and recycling areas.
• Monitor waste volumes, manage collections and complete accurate documentation (transfer notes, consignment notes).
• Manage waste‑related visitors and contractors, including Permit‑to‑Work processes.
• Develop, implement and maintain waste‑related QMS documentation and deliver training/toolbox talks.
• Respond to waste‑related incidents, support emergency procedures and assist with internal/external audits.
• Identify and implement waste minimisation, reuse, recycling and cost‑saving opportunities.

Required profile

• Right to live and work in the UK.
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in waste management, environmental services or a similar role.
• Proven supervisory or team‑leader experience.
• Knowledge of hazardous and non‑hazardous waste handling and regulatory requirements.

Required skills

• WAMITAB / CIWM Level 3 qualification in Waste Management.
• IOSH or NEBOSH safety qualification.
