Bilingual Resettlement Officer

About the role

The International Rescue Committee (IRC) UK is seeking a Bilingual Resettlement Officer to provide culturally and linguistically tailored casework support to refugee households resettling in Hampshire. You will work directly with families during their first year in the UK, helping them navigate essential services and build independent lives.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver practical casework support to refugee households, ensuring timely access to housing, income, healthcare, education and other statutory services.
• Provide one‑to‑one assistance and group sessions in English and Dari/Pashto, both in clients’ homes and remotely.
• Collaborate with the Senior Resettlement Officer, ESOL Coordinator, Education Officer, Community and Engagement Officer and partner organisations such as Citizens Advice Rushmoor.
• Maintain accurate case records and monitor progress against individual resettlement plans.
• Support households with higher and more complex needs, prioritising those in the first year of service.

Required profile

• Solutions‑driven, passionate change‑maker with experience supporting refugees or vulnerable communities.
• Strong communication skills in English and Dari and/or Pashto.
• Ability to manage complex caseloads and work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Knowledge of UK resettlement schemes (Afghan Resettlement Programme, UK Resettlement Scheme, Community Sponsorship).

Required skills

• Fluency in English.
• Fluency in Dari and/or Pashto.
• Case management and record‑keeping.
• Understanding of UK statutory services for housing, health, education and income support.
