Tax Senior Associate

About the role

Canonical is seeking a Tax Senior Associate to build and own a modern tax function for its fast‑growing global software business. Reporting directly to the CFO, you will design scalable tax processes that support the company’s expansion across multiple jurisdictions.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and coordinate preparation and review of corporate tax, VAT and other tax returns for all entities, ensuring timely and accurate filings.
• Work with external advisers to develop transfer‑pricing documentation, tax planning initiatives and lead their implementation.
• Serve as the primary contact for tax authority audits and enquiries, preparing responses and supporting documentation.
• Identify and implement opportunities to streamline tax processes, controls and data management using technology and automation.
• Run tax provisioning and reporting under IFRS, calculate effective tax rates and prepare tax‑related disclosures for financial statements.
• Collaborate closely with finance, legal and business operations teams to align tax strategy with overall corporate objectives.

Required profile

• Strong academic background with a professional qualification in accounting and tax.
• Demonstrable exposure to global tax considerations in a multinational context.
• Interest in technology and its impact on the tax profession, with ability to translate insights into practical solutions.
• Strategic thinking and the ability to design and implement tax processes from the ground up.
