Head of External Affairs

About the role

Skyral is seeking a senior leader to shape and deliver its external presence across media, public affairs, digital channels, events and executive communications. Reporting to the CEO, the Head of External Affairs will define the narrative that positions Skyral’s defence‑grade modelling and simulation technology in the market and supports commercial growth.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute the annual communications strategy and business narrative.
• Lead PR activities, manage agency partners, craft press releases, blogs, thought‑leadership pieces and brief executives for media engagements.
• Build and maintain relationships with journalists, ensuring media coverage aligns with business priorities.
• Direct public affairs efforts, brief MPs, civil servants and senior government officials, and manage the public affairs agency.
• Oversee external communications across press, web, social, events, conferences, sales collateral and investor‑facing materials.
• Collaborate with business development, product, solutions architects and the executive team to ensure consistent positioning with customers, partners, investors and policy audiences.

Required profile

• 8‑10+ years of experience in communications, public relations or public affairs, preferably in technology or defence sectors.
• Proven ability to move between strategic planning and hands‑on execution.
• Strong track record of managing agency relationships and supporting senior executives.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the capacity to craft compelling narratives for diverse audiences.
