About the role
The National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) is seeking a Senior Communications Officer to join its external communications team. You will work in a fast‑paced environment, supporting both press office and social‑media functions, and helping shape public conversation around cyber‑security.
Key responsibilities
- Develop and deliver proactive communications announcements and manage emerging media stories.
- Draft press releases, reactive statements and brief journalists on high‑profile cyber incidents.
- Lead the planning and execution of communication strategies for critical national infrastructure protection and state‑led cyber threats.
- Collaborate with internal partners across the organisation and Whitehall to maximise impact and manage risk.
- Participate in a press‑duty rota, including out‑of‑hours coverage, with associated allowances.
Required profile
- Proven experience in communications, public relations or media handling, preferably within a government or security context.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work under pressure, handle sensitive information and travel to UK sites and occasional international locations.
