Assistant Management Accountant (Retail FMCG)

About the role

Join a fast‑paced, rapidly growing retail business as an Assistant Management Accountant. Based in north Birmingham, you will support month‑end accounting processes and help manage overheads specific to the FMCG sector. This role offers exposure to financial analysis, stakeholder communication and continuous professional development.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare month‑end accounts, including accruals, pre‑payments and balance‑sheet reconciliations.
• Analyse expenditure patterns across customers and present findings to operational stakeholders.
• Conduct detailed profit‑and‑loss analyses and highlight financial variances.
• Assist in the production of management reports and support budgeting activities.
• Engage with diverse stakeholders to provide clear financial insights.

Required profile

• AAT qualification or a graduate progressing towards ACCA/CIMA.
• Strong communication skills with confidence presenting to stakeholders.
• Experience in a similar finance role within retail is desirable but not essential.
• Familiarity with accruals and pre‑payments.

Required skills

• Advanced Excel proficiency, including pivot tables.
