Assistant Principal – Study Programme & Higher Education

About the role

We are looking for an experienced educational leader to join a leading Further Education college as Assistant Principal for Study Programme and Higher Education. This senior position will shape curriculum strategy, drive quality improvement and enhance student outcomes across multiple sites.

Key responsibilities

• Provide strategic direction for Study Programmes and Higher Education provision.
• Lead curriculum planning, development and growth in line with learner and employer needs.
• Improve teaching, learning, assessment, attendance, retention and achievement.
• Build and maintain partnerships with employers, universities, awarding bodies and other stakeholders.
• Inspire and manage cross‑site teams, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
• Ensure compliance with funding, quality, safeguarding, Ofsted and higher‑education regulations.
• Champion student progression, destinations and overall learner experience.

Required profile

• Significant leadership experience within Further Education.
• Strong understanding of 16‑19 Study Programmes and Higher Education provision.
• Proven record of curriculum leadership and quality improvement.
• Experience driving excellence in teaching, learning and assessment.
• Excellent stakeholder management and partnership‑building abilities.
• Ability to lead change, develop high‑performing teams and deliver outstanding student outcomes.
