Assistant Urban Design Advisor

About the role

Mace is looking for an Assistant Urban Design Advisor to join its shaping team in Manchester. The role supports early‑stage urban design projects, focusing on regeneration and community engagement, and works closely with senior design leaders.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the Manchester Urban Design Lead and Head of Urban Design on projects from RIBA stages 0‑2.
• Provide design support across a variety of project types and prepare graphic and report material.
• Develop early concept models using Autodesk Revit.
• Manage small individual projects with guidance from team leadership.
• Contribute to the growth of Mace’s GIS capability.
• Support continuous improvement programmes and research innovative design approaches.

Required profile

• 1‑3 years post‑qualification experience in urban design or a recent graduate with an Urban Design Master’s degree.
• UK passport holder (required for project sensitivities).
• Degree in a built‑environment design field and an MA/MSc in Urban Design.
• Strong interest in urban regeneration and community engagement.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Autodesk Revit.
• Experience with GIS software.
• Advanced skills in the Adobe Suite (Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop, etc.).
