Associate Director, Clean Economy (12-month cover)

About the role

The Associate Director, Clean Economy will lead the strategic direction of E3G’s Clean Economy theme for a 12‑month maternity cover. The role sits on the Senior Management Team and is responsible for strategy, funding, people and impact across industrial transition, trade and economic security.

Key responsibilities

• Hold and lead the strategic direction of the Clean Economy theme, ensuring coherence and impact.
• Work collaboratively with climate diplomacy, geopolitics and political economy colleagues to develop offers in geo‑economics and clean‑tech supply chains.
• Represent E3G externally with ministries, international initiatives, private sector coalitions and multilateral venues.
• Build and steward senior funder relationships, lead funding strategy and ensure delivery to funder standards.
• Lead a cohort of programme leaders and senior advisors, shaping recruitment, new roles and capability in Asia.

Required profile

• Strategic leadership with accountability for outcomes and ability to lead through others.
• Facilitative, lateral leadership across teams and organisational boundaries.
• Experience managing senior programme leaders and building a broad leadership base.
• Strong external profile and influence with senior funder and partner relationships.
• Proven funding leadership, including developing new funding pipelines.
• Ability to scope and develop emerging areas into funded, staffed programmes.
• Track record of delivering at scale in industrial transition, trade, industrial policy or economic security.
