Associate Mechanical Engineer – Data Centres

About the role

We are seeking an Associate Mechanical Engineer to lead and shape multiple data‑centre projects across the UK. You will work closely with directors and senior stakeholders, balancing technical oversight with client management, business development and team growth.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the successful delivery of multiple data‑centre projects.
• Build and maintain long‑term client relationships.
• Support business development, bids and fee proposals.
• Oversee project performance, programme and profitability.
• Provide technical leadership across multidisciplinary teams.
• Mentor and develop senior, principal and graduate engineers.
• Review and approve engineering designs and specifications.
• Support recruitment, resource planning and succession planning.
• Promote innovation, quality and best practice throughout the business.
• Represent the consultancy at client meetings, industry events and technical presentations.

Required profile

• Proven experience in a building services design consultancy delivering data‑centre or mission‑critical projects.
• Demonstrated ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and manage client relationships.
• Strong commercial awareness and experience in business development and bid preparation.
• Experience in resource planning, recruitment and succession planning.
• Ability to provide technical oversight and review engineering designs.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
