Business Development Manager – Commercial Trailer Rental

About the role

We are seeking a Business Development Manager to drive growth for a leading family‑run trailer contract‑hire business in the North of England. The role combines new‑business sales of articulated trailers with the promotion of an advanced telematics and electronic brake monitoring solution.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute a sales strategy to increase market share and expand the rental fleet across the North.
• Identify and pursue long‑term contract‑hire agreements for curtain‑siders, double‑deck trailers and box vans.
• Promote and sell the company’s technology package, including telematics, tracking and electronic brake performance monitoring.
• Conduct market analysis to uncover opportunities and stay ahead of trailer‑technology trends.
• Maintain and grow existing client relationships while acquiring new customers to maximise fleet utilisation.

Required profile

• Proven sales experience in the commercial heavy‑duty vehicle leasing or trailer sector.
• Demonstrated record of generating new business and closing long‑term contract‑hire deals.
• Quick learner with a strong drive to succeed and a dynamic, results‑oriented attitude.
• Excellent communication and structured thinking abilities.
• Based in or willing to work across Sheffield, Leeds, Manchester or surrounding North England locations.
