Children Law Paralegal – Manchester

About the role

Our client, a top‑tier law firm recognised by The Legal 500 and Chambers & Partners, is seeking a dedicated Children Law Paralegal to join its Family & Children department in Manchester. This permanent position offers the chance to work on a diverse range of child‑care matters, both Legal Aid funded and private, within a supportive and highly professional environment.

Key responsibilities

• Report directly to the Department Director and manage a proactive caseload.
• Assist with casework across a variety of Children/Child Care matters, including advocacy and court representation.
• Attend clients, take instructions, and prepare case files.
• Draft documents such as witness statements and process evidential material.
• Prepare and manage funding applications to the Legal Aid Agency.
• Handle correspondence, attend conferences and court hearings.
• Maintain accurate time‑costing procedures and ensure compliance with file‑management standards.
• Implement supervisor recommendations following monthly file reviews.

Required profile

• Passion for and experience in a broad range of Children Law matters.
• Strong client‑care skills with a sensitive, sympathetic approach.
• Professional, proactive attitude and ability to work independently.
