Children's Social Worker – Advice & Guidance Service

About the role
This position is for a qualified Children’s Social Worker to join the Advice and Guidance Service of a Greater Manchester council. You will work directly with children, families and partner agencies to ensure timely and appropriate safeguarding support.
Key responsibilities
- Screen and assess contacts received by Children’s Services, determining need, risk and suitable interventions.
- Make robust safeguarding decisions and provide evidence‑based recommendations.
- Apply David Thorpe’s Conversational Model to engage with children, families and professionals.
- Conduct risk and protective factor assessments and refer where necessary.
- Collaborate with Family Help, Early Help and other agencies for multi‑agency responses.
- Offer advice and consultation on safeguarding thresholds to professionals.
- Maintain accurate records and reports in line with statutory requirements.
- Manage a fast‑paced workload while upholding high standards of practice.
Required profile
- Qualified Social Worker registered with Social Work England.
- Minimum three years of experience as a qualified social worker.
