CIS Accountant – Property Consultancy (Hybrid)

About the role

We are seeking a CIS Accountant to join a leading UK property consultancy in Birmingham. The role combines property accounting with specialist knowledge of the Construction Industry Scheme (CIS) and offers a hybrid working model (two days in the office). You will manage financial transactions and reporting for a portfolio of clients while ensuring compliance and high‑quality client service.

Key responsibilities

• Manage day‑to‑day financial transactions for a portfolio of clients.
• Perform robust reconciliations of client accounts and client funds.
• Prepare and process payment runs in line with contractual deadlines.
• Allocate incoming cash and tenant receipts.
• Produce monthly client accounts, reports and financial information.
• Prepare funding requests and related reconciliations.
• Handle client, tenant and stakeholder queries.
• Maintain accurate financial records and controls.
• Support continuous improvement of processes and procedures.
• Assist with team supervision and support junior colleagues.
• Contribute to ad‑hoc projects and wider client accounting activities.

Required profile

• Minimum 2 years’ experience in finance or accounting.
• Practical experience with the Construction Industry Scheme (CIS) – contractor and subcontractor payments, compliance and deductions.
• Experience in property, construction, engineering or professional services sectors is advantageous.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work to tight deadlines.
• Proactive, customer‑focused approach.

Required skills

• Excel – advanced spreadsheet skills.
• Knowledge of CIS processes and compliance.
