Claims Manager – Commercial Broker

About the role

IPS Group is partnering with a well‑established commercial insurance broker in Birmingham to appoint a Claims Manager. You will lead a high‑performing team of 12‑15 claims handlers and executives, shaping service delivery and driving operational excellence across a mixed portfolio of commercial claims.

Key responsibilities

• Lead day‑to‑day operations of the claims team, ensuring service excellence and efficiency.
• Provide first‑line supervision, coaching and mentoring to maximise performance.
• Support and implement operational strategies, policies and procedures.
• Identify process improvements and collaborate with senior stakeholders to enhance workflows.
• Conduct regular 1:1s, performance reviews and skills assessments.
• Monitor compliance with internal standards and regulatory requirements.
• Produce performance reports and use data dashboards for decision‑making.
• Manage client complaints in line with regulatory standards.
• Work closely with internal teams to improve overall client service delivery.

Required profile

• Strong claims background with technical expertise in commercial lines (EL/PL, property, motor, financial lines).
• People‑management experience at supervisory or team‑leader level, ready to step up to manager.
• Experience within a broking environment is preferred.
• Ability to handle technical or sensitive claims when required.
