Cleaner – School Facilities

About the role

The Cleaner will be responsible for maintaining a safe, hygienic, and welcoming environment within a school setting. The role requires adherence to health and safety legislation and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

Key responsibilities

• Perform routine cleaning of classrooms, corridors, restrooms, and communal areas.
• Operate and maintain cleaning machinery and equipment safely.
• Apply appropriate cleaning methods and chemicals in line with COSHH regulations.
• Undertake health and safety training provided by the EA cleaning service.
• Follow instructions from senior staff and adapt to flexible work schedules.

Required profile

• Demonstrated experience in a cleaning role, preferably within an educational environment.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet specific deadlines.
• Effective communication skills in English and the ability to follow instructions.
• Strong organisational and planning abilities.
• Team‑oriented mindset with a flexible approach to work.

Required skills

• Knowledge of cleaning methods and machinery.
• Understanding of health and safety requirements, including COSHH.
