Clinical Nurse Specialist – Head & Neck Team (Part‑time)

About the role

The part‑time Clinical Nurse Specialist will join the Head & Neck and Thyroid team within NHS Scotland’s cancer services. Working across the Western General Hospital, St John’s Hospital and the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh, you will provide expert, person‑centred care to patients throughout their treatment pathway.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver specialist nursing care and advice to patients undergoing surgery, radiotherapy, chemotherapy, immunotherapy and radioactive iodine treatment.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary team (MDT) activities, ensuring seamless hand‑over between surgical, medical and supportive services.
• Perform holistic needs assessments for patients and families, identifying and addressing physical, emotional and practical concerns.
• Contribute to the development and delivery of high‑quality cancer care pathways across the Head & Neck and Thyroid services.
• Work flexibly across three sites, adapting schedules to meet service demands.

Required profile

• First‑level registered nurse (NMC‑registered) with current registration.
• Demonstrated continuing professional development in oncology, surgical or palliative care.
• Relevant experience caring for patients receiving cancer treatments.
• Ability to work flexibly across different days and locations.
