Compliance Assistant – Legal Compliance Role

About the role

This full‑time, office‑based position supports a well‑established law firm in Birmingham with client onboarding and compliance activities. It is suitable for candidates with some exposure to AML/KYC or legal administration, as well as those eager to develop a career in legal compliance with full training provided.

Key responsibilities

• Support client onboarding and creation of new matters.
• Carry out AML, KYC, ID verification and conflict checks.
• Review client documentation and conduct due‑diligence checks.
• Maintain accurate compliance records and databases.
• Assist fee earners and internal teams with onboarding queries.
• Ensure adherence to SRA and other regulatory requirements.

Required profile

• Previous experience in compliance, AML, KYC, legal administration or a related field is desirable.
• Strong attention to detail and excellent organisational abilities.
• Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Proactive, reliable and capable of managing multiple priorities.
