Compliance Officer – Legal & Risk Management

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Compliance Officer to join our established legal practice in Manchester City Centre. Working closely with the Chief Officer of Legal Practice (COLP) and senior leadership, you will ensure the firm meets its regulatory obligations and manages legal risk effectively.

Key responsibilities

• Support the COLP with compliance and risk management activities.
• Manage complaints, claims and professional indemnity notifications.
• Conduct compliance checks, due diligence and regulatory searches.
• Maintain risk registers and compliance records.
• Assist with internal file audits and quality reviews.
• Monitor regulatory changes, SRA guidance and legal compliance updates.
• Collaborate with senior stakeholders to improve compliance processes and reduce risk.
• Promote best practice across the business.

Required profile

• Experience in a Legal Compliance, Risk & Compliance or Compliance Officer role.
• Approximately four years of litigation experience.
• Good knowledge of SRA regulations and legal compliance requirements.
• Strong written communication and attention to detail.
• Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities.
