CPD Registrant Reviewer (Casual Contractor)

About the role

The General Optical Council is seeking qualified registrants to act as CPD Registrant Reviewers on a casual, zero‑hours basis. Reviewers will assess the suitability and evidence of continuing professional development submitted by optometrists and dispensing opticians.

Key responsibilities

• Assess whether CPD activities align with the registrant’s scope of practice and professional development needs.
• Review approximately ten unique CPD pieces and supporting evidence per assignment, typically within a two‑hour window.
• Conduct reviews during two six‑week periods each year (April and September) and submit follow‑up requests when necessary.
• Participate in an induction session and periodic training workshops (approximately one day).

Required profile

• Current registration with the GOC as a dispensing optician or optometrist (mandatory).
• Desirable experience as a Contact Lens Optician or Independent Prescriber.
• Reliable internet connection and confidence using Microsoft Office and web‑based systems.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
• Ability to navigate the GOC’s online CPD platform (MyCPD) and communicate via email.

What we offer

• Remuneration of £50 per completed review, paid after the review period.
