Criminal Defence Paralegal

About the role

We are looking for an enthusiastic Criminal Defence Paralegal to join our Birmingham office and support solicitors on a varied criminal caseload.

Key responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive legal and administrative support across a wide range of criminal matters.
• Ensure cases progress efficiently while maintaining high standards of accuracy, compliance and client service.
• Assist solicitors with the day‑to‑day management of criminal defence files from opening through to conclusion.
• Prepare legal documents, court bundles, correspondence and other case‑related paperwork.
• Organise, scan and electronically file documents within the firm’s case management system.
• Manage diaries, court dates, appointments and important deadlines to ensure timely progression of matters.
• Liaise with courts, police stations, prisons, counsel, experts and other agencies to obtain updates and arrange appointments or prison visits.
