Criminal Duty Solicitor – Manchester

About the role

We are seeking a motivated Criminal Duty Solicitor to join our specialist criminal defence practice in Manchester. You will work on a varied caseload, representing clients from the point of police instruction through to final resolution in the courts.

Key responsibilities

• Represent clients at police stations, Magistrates' Courts and Crown Courts.
• Provide comprehensive advice on a wide range of criminal matters.
• Manage cases from initial instruction to conclusion, ensuring timely and effective service.
• Undertake advocacy work where appropriate.
• Collaborate with senior criminal law specialists and contribute to the growth of the practice.

Required profile

• Minimum 1 year post‑qualification experience (PQE) as a Duty Solicitor.
• Current Duty Solicitor accreditation.
• Proven experience across a broad spectrum of criminal cases.
• Strong advocacy, communication and client‑care abilities.
• Ability to manage a varied caseload in a fast‑paced environment.
• Commercial awareness and a proactive approach to client service.
