Criminal Justice Support Worker – Women’s Services

About the role

This permanent, full‑time position supports women involved in the criminal justice system across the West Midlands. The role combines one‑to‑one case work, therapeutic group sessions and community outreach to help women build safety, stability and confidence.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct needs‑based, trauma‑informed assessments and develop personalised support plans.
• Manage an active caseload, reviewing progress and addressing barriers such as homelessness, mental health, substance misuse and re‑offending risk.
• Deliver one‑to‑one support, therapeutic group work and psychosocial interventions.
• Provide outreach and community asset building, collaborating with partner agencies and local services.
• Offer in‑reach support to women in custody where required, including prison clearance.

Required profile

• Experience working with women and people with complex, multiple needs in a criminal justice or social care setting.
• Understanding of trauma‑informed, strength‑based approaches.
• Ability to travel across Birmingham, Sandwell and the wider Black Country.
• Female applicants only, as required by Equality Act occupational requirement.

• Salary of £26,278 per annum plus benefits.
• Full‑time, 37.5‑hour week, Monday‑Friday, 9am‑5pm.
