Data Protection Solicitor – Legal Director (Senior Associate)

About the role

This senior position offers an ambitious solicitor the chance to lead high‑profile defamation, privacy and data‑protection matters within a global risks team. You will work on complex, commercially sensitive cases for an impressive client base, enjoying autonomy and an international platform.

Key responsibilities

• Provide strategic advice on defamation, misuse of private information, breach of confidence and GDPR compliance.
• Manage the full lifecycle of cases, from early advisory stages through to litigation when required.
• Handle high‑visibility online reputation and harassment claims.
• Develop and maintain strong client relationships and contribute to business development.
• Collaborate with recognised specialists across the firm to deliver high‑quality outcomes.

Required profile

• At least 5 years post‑qualification experience (PQE) in defamation, privacy or data‑protection law.
• Proven ability to manage an independent caseload and advise on technically challenging issues.
• Strong commercial awareness and comfort working with high‑profile, sensitive matters.
• Excellent communication and relationship‑building skills.

Required skills

• In‑depth knowledge of GDPR and UK data‑protection legislation.
• Experience with defamation, privacy and reputation‑management law.
• Ability to draft and negotiate complex legal documents.
