Data Protection Solicitor – Up to £95k DOE

About the role

The Legists is seeking a Data Protection Solicitor to join its specialist Data Protection & Information Governance team in Birmingham. This hybrid role offers the chance to work on high‑value, often high‑profile matters across a fast‑evolving area of law, with a competitive salary up to £95,000 depending on experience.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and respond to Subject Access Requests (DSARs) and Freedom of Information (FOI) requests.
• Lead data breach investigations and coordinate incident response.
• Advise on broader data protection and information governance issues.
• Support contentious data protection matters and, where required, tribunal or litigation proceedings.

Required profile

• Qualified solicitor with at least 2 years post‑qualification experience, or an experienced in‑house data protection professional.
• Strong working knowledge of UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act.
• Proven track record handling DSARs, FOI requests and data breach responses.
• Commercial, pragmatic approach to problem solving.
