Director of Product Design

About the role

Monzo is seeking a Director of Product Design to lead the design of its Payments business, one of the company’s fastest‑growing multi‑market areas. In this senior role you will partner with product and engineering leaders to shape strategy, define roadmaps and ensure world‑class execution that delights millions of customers.

Key responsibilities

• Define and communicate the strategic design vision for Payments, aligning with Monzo’s mission and goals.
• Collaborate with senior product and engineering leaders to set priorities, shape roadmaps and translate strategy into tangible outcomes.
• Lead, mentor and grow a team of product designers, fostering a culture of craftsmanship, research‑driven design and cross‑functional collaboration.
• Raise the overall quality bar, expand design influence across the organisation and champion user‑centric solutions.
• Represent design in leadership forums, influencing product direction and the broader customer experience.

Required profile

• Proven experience leading product design teams at scale, preferably in fintech or fast‑moving consumer‑focused environments.
• Strong ability to influence senior stakeholders and translate business objectives into design strategy.
• Deep understanding of design thinking, user research and crafting memorable user experiences.
• Excellent communication and leadership skills, with a track record of developing designers.
