Employee Relations Specialist – 6‑month FTC

About the role

We are seeking an Employee Relations Specialist to join a leading international college in London for a six‑month fixed‑term contract. The role will provide expert HR guidance, support managers with complex employee‑relations issues and help drive best practice across policy, performance management and employee engagement.

Key responsibilities

• Advise managers on complex cases including absence, performance, conduct, capability, redundancy and grievance.
• Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of employment law and case law, ensuring compliance.
• Develop, review and maintain HR policies and safeguarding procedures.
• Design and deliver HR process training, webinars and written guidance for managers.
• Support performance and development processes, providing feedback to managers.
• Contribute to employee‑engagement initiatives such as the annual survey.
• Assist with organisational redesign and change‑management programmes.

Required profile

• Significant experience as a senior HR/Employee Relations advisor in a large organisation (10,000+ staff).
• Proven track record handling complex employee‑relations cases independently.
• Strong knowledge of UK employment law and best practice.
• Experience in the education sector is desirable but not essential.

Required skills

• In‑depth understanding of employment legislation.
• Ability to develop and maintain HR policies.
• Experience delivering training and guidance to managers.
